Megan Howell
I am a graduate of MSc Violence, Conflict & Development and have known since before the refugee crisis erupted that I want to use my education to help refugees. Immigration has long been an issue close to my heart and the refugee crisis is an enormous amplification of the issue of fortified immigration policies within the EU.
I have been completely and utterly sickened by the treatment of the refugees currently entering the EU and like many others see the disturbing parallels between their vilification and that of the Jews before WW2. I will stand on the right side of history and fight for their right to live in peace and prosperity for as long as it takes the world to see how ugly it has become. Photography is my means of documenting the truth. Find out more at Megan's blog and find her on Facebook. |

"It is common practice for the CRS to hide their faces." 08/03/2016
"The evictions continued this morning and were met by a protest called by the hunger strikers, during which some of the children in the camp presented white roses to the CRS officers protecting the demolition site. They did not accept the flowers." 08/03/2016
This weekend, many of the refugees who live in the Southern section of the camp were moving their shelters to the Northern section to escape being forcibly evicted by the French authorities. Most moving was done manually with hand pulled trailers. 04/03/2016

"Here are 2 more mysterious fires that started while I was standing right next to both shelters. Both fires started at the same time and I saw absolutely nothing. Whoever is doing it is doing it incredibly stealthily. I am unconvinced by the theory that the refugees are burning their own homes down in protest. Firstly, because many of the fires are happening some distance away from the affected parts of the Southern sector and, secondly, because by burning the shelters the refugees would be assisting the French authorities with the evictions by effectively speeding the process up. There are suspicions around other groups but as yet no evidence." "Abandoned belongings strewn across the section of the camp that has been cleared. There is a tear gas canister mingled in with some clothing, which was found on the main road near the Ashram kitchen after Monday's violence which took place there."

"I saw two fires tonight. One huge one involving about 4 or 5 shelters up in the affected sector and one small one on the road leading to the unofficial women and children's centre." 01/03/2016
"The CRS had 16 riot vans stationed around the perimeter on the bridge side tonight and the water canon on stand by under the bridge." 01/03/2016 at approximately 11:00am
